There is an animal,
smart enough to be human,
alone in the wild.
It builds to survive,
to speak,
to carve meaning from chaos.
Its tasks are heavy,
difficult, demanding,
yet it aches
for the comfort of a nest
long vanished,
too distant to grasp.
Exiled from past and present,
future uncertain,
it moves through the in-between,
where thought and instinct collide.
A beacon unseen
presses it forward.
For what?
For the echo of a home lost,
or the shadow of one yet to come?
